The GBurger Story is one of resilience and innovation, against all odds.

The Gitanes Burger Concept (G Burger) was first conceived in 2020 as a sibling restaurant to the renowned Gitanes in Ottawa. G Burger was initially meant to be a temporary pandemic pop-up offering a chef-inspired take on fast food favorites. But when the business eventually grew at an exponential rate, it prompted the team to build the brand and menu further, and take over a more permanent location to better serve customer demand.

Eventually, the space was redesigned to have an upscale feel on the traditional diner experience.
The menu boasts a variety of burgers made from scratch with high quality, locally sourced ingredients, as well as an impressive selection of beverages, from natural wines to creative cocktails.

Chef Matt has built his career working in restaurants across the country. At age 25, Matt opened Urban Cowboy Food Truck and ran it for 2 successful seasons before entering the world of fine dining. 

From opening the popular Riveria in Ottawa to serving as a Chef de Cuisine for The Whalesbone Restaurant Group, Matt helped develop the restaurant scene in Ottawa and Montreal before finally joining Gitanes in 2019 as their Sous Chef. 

Matt came on board as Chef de Cuisine for G Burger to help develop the menu and grow the restaurant to what it is today.

Chef-Inspired Food and Beverage Menu

G Burger sources its ingredients from local farms, creating a more responsible and locally representative alternative to the fast food burger chains. Working with the best cattle farm in Ontario, we have procured the best meat possible, which is ground daily for our burgers. Our baked goods are baked on an hourly basis to ensure the highest quality product.
Our beverage menu is curated by our certified sommelier to satisfy any taste, whether you’re looking for a soda, cocktail or a natural wine.

Fun and Sophisticated Aesthetic

The interior design of G burger takes familiar elements of diner and fast food culture and brings them into a modern context. Neon signs, tile, and diner barstools, combine with curved plaster archways, mid century light fixtures, and bouclé woven chairs to achieve a sexier, more mature looking setting for burgers.
Our brand uses pastel colours, abstract shapes, and soft, bubbly typography to suggest a fun, nostalgic look that takes influence from fast food branding of the past.

G Burger’s fast casual model offers all of the traditional methods of service that a fast food business offers including dine-in, take-out, and delivery, but also offers on-site catering for all kinds of events.
